Letter: Speaking of school shootings

Dear Editor, Speaking of deadly school shootings, CBS’s Nora O’Donnell recently said, “Something needs to be done.” Wow, thanks Momma Nora. Now we know that 388 such events since Columbine 25 years ago is just too many. When Jesse Ventura became Governor of Minnesota, he vowed that he could learn everything he needed to know in 30 days. Hubris, I’m sure, but he did it. However, Ventura did not run for reelection. After leaving office in 2003, he became a visiting fellow at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Ignoring corruption in county for decades?

Maui County Council keeps paying out taxpayer money to a private law firm in Honolulu to defend the county from numerous documented allegations of corruption by a citizen resident whistleblower who worked for the county. They are authorizing now almost half a million dollars instead of working with the whistleblower, who is representing himself. He even got the county attorneys and a judge to recuse themselves for conflicts of interest.
