State launches new COVID-19 hotline

The state Department of Health has launched a new hotline for people with questions about COVID-19, including what to do if they test positive, are exposed to a positive case or need to get a booster shot. “The hotline provides information about isolation, quarantine, booster shots and more,” State Epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Kemble said in a news release Tuesday. “It is especially useful for people who have tested positive or have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19. Active inmate cases at jail now at 197

The number of active COVID-19 inmate cases increased to 197 at the Maui Community Correctional Center, with another 12 positive test results for inmates reported Monday by the state Department of Public Safety. There were also 32 negative inmate tests, according to the department.

MEO receives 1,000 COVID-19 test kits

Maui Economic Opportunity received nearly 1,000 COVID-19 antigen home test kits from Maui County and the state Department of Health on Friday, allowing the nonprofit to test staff frequently exposed to the public as well as clients in need. MEO also received another 70 test kits from Malama I Ke Ola Health Center on Monday, according to a news release from the nonprofit.
