Democratic South Maui state House candidate Deidre Tegarden has been endorsed by the Hawaii State AFL-CIO, according to an announcement.Union President Randy Perreira was quoted as saying: "We believe that is especially crucial to support candidates who believe that all workers deserve a living wage, a safe and healthy workplace and that hard-won benefits are protected."Tegarden is facing incumbent Rep. Kaniela Ing in the Democratic primary. The winner will go on to meet Republican Daniel Pekus in the Nov. 8 general election.
