Visiting rabbi to lead discussion The Jewish Congregation of Maui is hosting Jerusalem’s Rabbi Gedaliah Fleer as a scholar-in-residence. He will lead a discussion from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday titled “Faith, Prayer and Self-expression” at the Jewish Congregation of Maui, 634 Alukike St. in Kihei. There is a suggested $65 donation. Courses offered on the New Testament The Transformation School of Ministries at the Faith in Jesus Church on Waiehu Beach Road begins the new year with two courses that will cover the entire New Testament. Bob Cook of Dallas will teach the four Gospels from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 14.
