Bigger draw: Big game or Willie K?
First photo: New England Patriots fan Barbara Potopowitz of Maalaea celebrates as her team captures its NFL record-tying sixth Super Bowl victory during a watch party at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Sunday. The Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams, 13-3, before a packed house at the MACC. Potopowitz said she just got back from Connecticut, where she had been watching the playoffs with her family and fellow Patriots fans. “He’s just super,” Potopowitz said of 41-year-old Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. “All of these wins are incredible, and they just show no matter how old you get, you can still be on the top.”
Second photo: Maui entertainer Willie K takes the stage as quarterback Tom Brady gives a postgame interview on the big screen at the MACC.
Third photo: Ten-year-old James Doubleday (right) of Makawao goes up for the pass against 9-year-old Orion Brandon of Paia. Doubleday was wearing both Patriots and Rams gear because half of his family is from New England, and the other half is from Los Angeles. Doubleday, however, was cheering for the Rams “because they had my favorite player,” defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
