Why is county delaying Senior Softball League?
Why is the County of Maui continuing to delay the start of the Senior Softball League? We appreciate the county starting league play for our youth, including hosting the U.S. Club Soccer Hawaii State Cup last week, but it is equally important to keep our kupuna active with league play.
Senior Softball League play provides significant health benefits that keep our minds active and improve our body flexibility and hand-eye coordination. It also serves as an outlet for stress caused by the pandemic and gives participants a chance to get out and meet new people and to catch up with longtime friends.
Many of our senior players are looking forward to the 45th Annual Hawaii State Senior Softball Tournament being held the first week of August on Kauai.
Now that our Neighbor Island counties have already started their league play before Maui County, it gives their players a competitive edge over our seniors. We are losing invaluable playing time.
Please, no more delays and no more excuses. Let’s play ball and start the Senior Softball League!
