Liquor department to require appointments

In-person customer service at the Department of Liquor Control will be available by appointment only starting Monday through Feb. 28 due to surging COVID-19 cases, the county announced Friday. No walk-in or standby customers will be serviced at the department’s offices in the Maui County Service Center in Kahului. Appointments can be made by emailing liquor@maui county.gov and will be scheduled in the order they are received, the county said. Active jail staff cases down to 10

One Maui Community Correctional Center employee has recovered from COVID-19, putting the number of active staff cases at 10, the state Department of Public Safety reported Friday. The department also reported 43 negative staff test results and two negative inmate test results. There is currently one active inmate case at the Wailuku jail, according to department data as of Friday.

DMVL requires appointments at some locations, suspends road tests until further notice

The Maui News The Maui County Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing will offer in-person services by appointment only at its Kahului, Kihei and Lahaina locations starting Monday through Feb. 28. Driver’s license road tests also will be suspended beginning Monday until further notice, the county said, adding that it was taking the steps to protect employees and the public during the current surge of COVID-19.
