Safe Travels reduces quarantine time period

The Maui News The mandatory self-quarantine period for travelers arriving in Hawaii from other parts of the U.S. has been reduced from 10 days to five days effective Monday, the Hawaii Tourism Authority announced. The quarantine applies to travelers who are not fully vaccinated or do not have a negative COVID-19 pre-travel test result. The changes come on the heels of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance reducing the number of days that people need to quarantine if they are exposed to someone with the virus. Bill payment window closes due to COVID

The Maui County Department of Water Supply will close its bill payment window on the fifth floor of the Kalana O Maui Building until further notice due to the ongoing surge of COVID-19 cases. The county said Monday that it was taking the step out of an abundance of caution to limit community spread of COVID-19 and the highly contagious omicron variant. Jail sees 3 more cases; shot incentive offered

One inmate and two staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Maui Community Correctional Center, the state Department of Public Safety reported Monday. The positive test results followed a report Dec. 27 that another Wailuku jail employee had tested positive for COVID-19. The recent positive tests were the first reported since Oct. 14, when no COVID cases were reported at the jail.
